Wild blueberries (bilberry, V. myrtillus) are very different from the cultivated blueberries (V. angustifolium, V. corymbosum). In our wild blueberry powder, we use only handpicked, wild-crafted berries from pristine and fruitful organic forests in Estonia, Finland and/or Sweden.
- Wild blueberries (aka bilberries; V. myrtillus) have a high anthocyanin content and organic wild blueberries are a good source of polyphenols and antioxidants. Our berry powder is sweet and dark in colour, unlike cultivated blueberries, throughout the berry. Wild blueberries contain several times more flavonoids and four times as much anthocyanin than cultivated blueberries
- Our wild blueberry pomace powder is made of the peels and the seeds of berries after they have been pressed for organic blueberry juice. High levels of polyphenol compounds are found in the skin of the berries. Our bilberry powder contains peels and seeds of the berries, which are dried at low heat (50-55°C) to preserve the nutrients. This dried mixture is ground into high-fiber organic blueberry powder
- LOOV's wild blueberry powder tastes like fresh wild blueberries and is not too finely milled, but it still mixes easily in smoothies, yoghurt, porridge, muesli, tea, and protein shakes. Tastes good in baked goods (muffins, cakes, etc.)
- Add 1-3 teaspoon organic blueberry powder to your favourite meals. We recommend ingesting 1-2 tbsp of blueberry powder a day for 2-3 weeks. Please note that as the powder is made of wild blueberries and nothing else, it (like fresh bilberries) will not dissolve in water
- All our blueberries are handpicked and wild-crafted from Nordic forests. More than half of the land in Estonia and Finland is covered by pristine and fruitful forests. In mid-summer, there are 19 hours of daylight. This creates the formation of anthocyanin compounds and wild blueberries form high levels of antioxidants. 100 g of LOOV's pomace blueberry powder = 700 g of fresh organic wild blueberries
Wild Crafted
Berries growing in Nordic countries are rich in nutrients compared to the cultivated varieties.
Northern conditions are characterized by long days with much light and low temperatures during the growing season. Due to this, our organic blueberries produce more polyphenols (antioxidants, which give the wild blueberry its characteristic colour) to protect themselves from the environmental stressors.
Wild blueberries contain several times more flavonoids and 4 times as much anthocyanin than cultivated blueberries.
Berry Pomace
The wild blueberry powder organic is made of organic berries after they have been pressed for juice. First, we make organic blueberry juice, after that, we use the remaining solid mass for making LOOV wild blueberry powder.
High levels of polyphenol compounds are found in the skin of berries. The seeds of the berries contain fatty acids.
Wild blueberry pomace powder contains these valuable part of the berries: peels and seeds, which are dried at low temperature (50-55°C) to preserve all the good nutrients. This dried mixture is then ground into high-fiber wild bilberry powder.
