Trace elements cannot be formed by your body itself, which is why a good, regular zinc supply via diet is so important. However, there are also numerous factors that inhibit the absorption of zinc. These include smoking, meatless nutrition, but also a high intake of phytic acid, which is mainly found in cereals and legumes. Because phytate can reduce the bioavailability of zinc by up to 45%.
Zinc picolinate - bioavailability meets compatibility
Zinc 15 from Pure Encapsulations provides vegan, well-bioavailable zinc picolinate. Each of the capsules provides 15 mg of the trace element. The compound with picolic acid has a very good bioavailability, so it can be well absorbed by the body and quickly gets where it is needed. Zinc picolinate is the compound between the trace element zinc and the body's own picoline acid. Picolinic acid is produced during the production of vitamin B3 in the body. Because our organism knows the acid, it can process the zinc compound well and quickly, so it is called good bioavailability.
Between meals' means that the product should be consumed sober or at a minimum interval of ½ hour before or 1 ½ hours after eating. This consumption recommendation is given when micronutrients either have an influence on the pH value of the stomach acid (e.g. base powder) or by the stomach acid or Food components are inactivated (e.g. amino acids, special enzymes). The temporally correct intake of the micronutrients is therefore important.
In addition to zinc picolinate and zinc citrate, both organic compounds, there are other forms of zinc such as zinc gluconate or the inorganic compounds with oxide or sulfate.
Zinc-rich foods are mainly oysters, beef, offal, lentils as well as nuts and oatmeal.
According to D-A-CH reference values, 7-10 mg are recommended daily for women and 11-16 mg for men, depending on the daily phytate intake. During pregnancy and lactation, the recommended daily intake of zinc is slightly higher.
