At Vimergy, we recognize the success of our business depends on the satisfaction of our customers and the quality of our products. We are constantly monitoring the quality of our products and ingredients, and always looking for opportunities to improve.
Over the last year and a half, due to testing requirements in the European Union (EU), there have been thousands of products that have experienced challenges related to 2-Chloroethanol (2-CE), a substance for which there is currently no definitive and agreed upon safety profile within the technical community. In light of this and our mutual desire to make sure that the Vimergy products test within the limits of even the most stringent regulations 100% of the time, some of our distributors, along with Vimergy, proactively tested the Vimergy brand products in Europe. We were surprised to recently find low levels in a few Lots of a small number of our products. These low levels do not pose any known safety risk to users according to current US standards. In the US, much higher levels exist and are permitted in, for example, vanilla, basil, chamomile, chives, cilantro, fennel, mint, spearmint, oregano and stevia. Furthermore, the vast majority of our products are not affected at all.
While the discussion around 2-CE is still ongoing in the EU as to why they’ve gone to such extremes, and if it makes any sense at all, which is being debated across several industries, Vimergy has decided to take preemptive action all the same. We are extremely pleased that through the proactive work of our combined distribution channels we identified this, and were able to immediately begin efforts to address it.
What you should do:
The products with the associated Lot numbers are identified below. If you are located in the EU, and purchased products from one of our EU distributors, and currently possess any of these products (only with the Lots listed below), we ask that you discontinue using those lots. You may also contact the distributor from whom you purchased the products to obtain, at your option, replacement products once they become available or, in the alternative, a refund of the purchase price or a credit for the purchase of other Vimergy products.

When will my EU distributors get new products in?
We are working hard to create new products to send to our EU distributors as quickly as possible. We have already taken action creating new lots. The timeline for each product is different, although we expect to have some available in as early as 4 weeks. We thank you for your support and understanding during this process.
Are my products safe to take?
The low levels in a few lots of a small number of products do not pose any known safety risk to users according to current US standards. Furthermore, the vast majority of our products are not affected at all in any jurisdictions worldwide. We have always been and remain fully committed to making available to our customers nutritional supplements of only the highest quality, keeping the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers as our top priority. Our raw materials and finished products are stringently tested. Our products are manufactured in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certified facilities and are designed and tested to ensure we continually strive for and achieve this commitment to you.

The 2-CE levels found in a small number of our products exceed the extremely low limits allowable in the EU. In the US, much higher levels exist and are permitted in, for example, vanilla, basil, chamomile, chives, cilantro, fennel, mint, spearmint, oregano and stevia.
Why is 2-CE in these specific lots?
2-CE is not an ingredient added to any of our products. Through proactive testing by our company and our distributors, we determined that a few lots of a small number of our products contained levels of 2-CE above those allowed under the extremely stringent applicable regulations in the EU. We take the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers as our top priority, so, out of an abundance of caution, our EU distributors are notifying customers who purchased those products.
Is there a possibility that this will be an issue going forward?
Our already stringent third party testing practices will include testing conforming to the 2-CE regulation in Europe.
